Native Cincinnati Musician, Paul Kuhn, Releases Second CD, Fade to Sunrise, a New Age Musical Collection Aimed at Baby Boomers

Paul Kuhn, a native Cincinnatian, collaborated with Nine-time Emmy winner Wes Boatman and Well-known Recording Engineer Mike Duffey, on his Second CD. Fade to Sunrise is a collection of songs based on acoustic guitar, keyboards and occasional, creative saxophone.

Cincinnati, OH., January 30, 2021 -- Native Cincinnati musician, Paul Kuhn, released his second CD recently. Fade to Sunrise, which was inspired by his love of new-age/acoustic guitar based music from such greats as Alex De Grassi, Michael Hedges, Crosby, Stills & Nash, and Joni Mitchell, just to name a few.

“As a life-long guitarist, I have played in several bands, but never considered myself a composer until I realized that the instrumental music I was listening to, and loved, was definitely something I could produce. My first CD, The Moon Followed Me Home, (2018) was well received and encouraged me to complete Fade to Sunrise.” Paul said.

Having grown up in Cincinnati, Paul played in several local bands including Haymarket Riot, The Twist and most recently Sorry Charlie. As a member of the band, the Twist, one of the band's original songs appeared on the 1982 WEBN Album Project, a collection of songs from bands and musicians from the Greater Cincinnati area.

Paul also added guitar parts in the music for commercials for Nickelodeon, including products advertised on Land of the Lost and Saved by the Bell.  But his newest music has taken his talent to a whole new level.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has provided me time to really stretch my musical abilities,” Paul said. “I have found my fingers literally doing things I never imagined I could do on the guitar. I have written 13 new songs and am looking forward to some studio time this year to collaborate once again with Wes Boatman and Mike Duffey.”

This long-time friendship with fellow band members, Wes Boatman and Mike Duffey, have inspired him to continue to expand and hone his music. Wes Boatman has been nominated 27 times for Emmys and has won nine of them. He is an incredible musician and composer. Mike Duffey, also an accomplished musician, is best known for his musical recording, directing and producing abilities.

With the release of Fade to Sunrise, Paul is hoping to expand his listener base and offer more people the ability hear his music on a wide variety of stations and streaming venues that appeal to Baby Boomers.  While Boomers are not his only fans, many appreciate the sounds and tunes that make up New Age music genre.

“The great thing about my songs is that you can listen to them as background music, or you can just relax and focus in on the clear, incredible sounds. I feel very lucky to be able to continue to create this kind of music and share it with my generation and the generations that follow,” Paul said.

PDF Xpansion SDK 15 released - New Features for eInvoicing & Digital Signatures

soft Xpansion has launched PDF Xpansion SDK 15. The new version comes with more features especially for creating, reading and validating electronic invoices.

Bochum, Germany, January 16, 2021 -- soft Xpansion has launched PDF Xpansion SDK 15. Apart from PDF and PDF/A functionality of previous versions, the new version of the SDK also enables software developers to implement extensive eInvoicing features in their applications. These features comply with both the EU standard EN 16931 and directive 2014/55/EU. Thus, PDF Xpansion SDK 15 has been developed to cover a major trend in the field of invoicing: In many companies, electronic invoices have already replaced their paper ancestors. The reason is: processes linked to invoices (creation of and working with incoming and outgoing invoices) are handled much easier and faster with electronic instead of paper documents.

NECESSARY REQUIREMENTS TO ESTABLISH EINVOICES
In order to establish eInvoices on a broad level, they have to fulfil important requirements: the use of a common (standard) data format on the one hand, plus the existence of laws and regulations that define the implementation rules for supplier and buyer, on the other hand.

Currently, the data formats FACTUR-X (in Germany and France), ZUGFeRD and XRechnung (both in Germany) are such standards, and they meet EU and national laws and regulations. ZUGFeRD is the German language abbreviation for Zentraler User Guide Forum elektronische Rechnung Deutschland, which means Central User Guide Forum Electronic Invoice Germany).

Software developers have already created solutions based on these formats. And on the usersŽ side, more and more companies are interested in these solutions. Apart from that, the use of "structured" invoice data instead of paper invoices or simple PDF files has become obligatory by law many countries. For example, in Germany, federal authorities only accept XML files in the XRechnung format since November 27, 2020.

ZUGFeRD and FACTUR-X combine a printable invoice (PDF/A-3 file as visual representation of the invoice data) with an embedded XML file that presents the invoice data in a specifically structured way. XRechnung is only an XML file without any visual representation at all.

NEW COMPONENTS FOR EINVOICES
PDF Xpansion SDK 15 does not only allow software manufacturers to implement functionality for the creation, reading, and validation of current eInvoicing formats (all published specifications of FACTUR-X, ZUGFeRD and XRechnung) in their applications, but also for the visualization of XML files in PDF format. Additionally, a separate new feature allows the conversion between the aforementioned eInvoicing formats.

NEWS FOR ELECTRONIC SIGNATURES
Last but not least, PDF Xpansion SDK 15 offers enhanced features in the field of digital signatures: it now also supports signing and verification with certification signatures and PAdES signatures (all conformance levels), plus the embedding of time stamps according to ISO 32000-2 and the RFC 3161 protocol.

NEWS OVERVIEW
- Features for current formats/specifications to send and receive eInvoices: ZUGFeRD 1.0 to 2.1.1 (all profiles) and FACTUR-X, XRechnung 1.2.2 and 2.0
- Support of UBL syntax for import of data from XRechnung (to UN/CEFACT)
- Visualize XML invoices (generate PDF using XML invoice and design template): convert content of XML to PDF, and place the content in a predefined invoice layout design
- Reformat invoice from one standard to another: open a format standard, convert & save
- Extended features for electronic signatures: Certification signatures, document time stamps
- PAdES signatures: verification and/or signing with B (Basic), T (Time), LT (Long-Term-Validation) & LTA (Long-Term Availability and Integrity of Validation) conformance levels
- Embedding of time stamps according to ISO 32000-2 and to RFC 3161 protocol into electronic signatures
- More new features in version 15: compare text in two PDF documents (diff procedure), mark changes to see them in file viewer or save as text markup; improved rendering of PDF contents

DETAILS
Detailed information is available on the PDF Xpansion SDK 15 product page on soft Xpansion Žs web site. The page also offers a trial license that comes with a detailed product guide and an illustrative programming reference Cfor developers.

Expert Prognosis for the Planet – We’re on Track for a Ghastly Future

An international group of 17 leading scientists have produced a comprehensive yet concise assessment of the state of civilization, warning that the outlook is more dire and dangerous than is generally understood.

Australia, January 13, 2021 -- An international group of 17 leading scientists have produced a comprehensive yet concise assessment of the state of civilization, warning that the outlook is more dire and dangerous than is generally understood.

A loss of biodiversity and accelerating climate change in the coming decades coupled with ignorance and inaction is threatening the survival of all species, including our very own, according to the experts from institutions including Stanford University, UCLA, and Flinders University.

The researchers state that world leaders need a ‘cold shower’ regarding the state of our environment, both to plan and act to avoid a ghastly future.

Lead author Professor Corey Bradshaw of Flinders University in Australia says he and his colleagues have summarised the state of the natural world in stark form to help clarify the gravity of the human predicament.

“Humanity is causing a rapid loss of biodiversity and, with it, Earth’s ability to support complex life. But the mainstream is having difficulty grasping the magnitude of this loss, despite the steady erosion of the fabric of human civilization” Professor Bradshaw says.

“In fact, the scale of the threats to the biosphere and all its lifeforms is so great that it is difficult to grasp for even well-informed experts.

“The problem is compounded by ignorance and short-term self-interest, with the pursuit of wealth and political interests stymying the action that is crucial for survival” he says.

Professor Paul Ehrlich of Stanford University says that no political or economic system, or leadership, is prepared to handle the predicted disasters, or even capable of such action.

“Stopping biodiversity loss is nowhere close to the top of any country’s priorities, trailing far behind other concerns such as employment, healthcare, economic growth, or currency stability.

“While it is positive news that President-elect Biden intends to reengage the US in Paris Climate accord within his first 100 days of office, it is a minuscule gesture given the scale of the challenge.

1 -“Humanity is running an ecological Ponzi scheme in which society robs nature and future generations to pay for short-term economic enhancement today”.

“Most economies operate on the basis that counteraction now is too costly to be politically palatable. Combined with disinformation campaigns to protect short-term profits it is doubtful that the scale of changes we need will be made in time” Professor Ehrlich says.

Professor Dan Blumstein from UCLA says the scientists are choosing to speak boldly and fearlessly because life literally depends on it.

“What we are saying might not be popular, and indeed is frightening. But we need to be candid, accurate, and honest if humanity is to understand the enormity of the challenges we face in creating a sustainable future.

“Without political will backed by tangible action that scales to the enormity of the problems facing us, the added stresses to human health, wealth, and well-being will perversely diminish our political capacity to mitigate the erosion of the Earth’s life-support system upon which we all depend.

“Human population growth and consumption continues to escalate, and we’re still more focused on expanding human enterprise than we are on devising and implementing solutions to critical issues such as biodiversity loss. By the time we fully comprehend the impact of ecological deterioration, it will be too late.

“Without fully appreciating and broadcasting the scale of the problems and the enormity of the solutions required, society will fail to achieve even modest sustainability goals, and catastrophe will surely follow” Professor Blumstein  concludes.

The experts say their ‘perspective’ paper, which cites more than 150 studies, seeks to outline clearly and unambiguously the likely future trends in biodiversity decline, mass extinction, climate disruption, planetary toxification, all tied to human consumption and population growth to demonstrate the near certainty that these problems will worsen over the coming decades, with negative impacts for centuries to come. It also explains the impact of political impotence and the ineffectiveness of current and planned actions to address the ominous scale of environmental erosion.

The perspective paper “Underestimating the challenges of avoiding a ghastly future” is published in Frontiers in Conservation Science 1:615419 [Jan 2021 DOI:10.3389/fcosc.2020.615419]

Power Couple Releasing New Music "We Are One"

The newest couple on the gospel scene, David and Tiffany Spencer, releases their new single "We Are One."

Laurinburg, Scotland., January 5, 2021 -- The newest couple on the gospel scene, David and Tiffany Spencer, releases their new single "We Are One." The single will be available on January 15, 2021, on all digital outlets. The release date is also Dr. Martin Luther King Jr's Birthday. The song is a reminder that King's dream can be a reality. If we remember that we are one, we can get to the Promised Land together.

"We Are One" is a battle cry that we should continue to labor together until we realize King's dream. "I enjoyed recording this song, and I hope listeners will embrace the message," Tiffany said. "Our goal is to help people move past divisiveness by singing along with us- We Are One."

2020 Elections brought out the best and worse in people. Voters on both sides of the aisle were very passionate and rightfully so. "We have to be careful not to let passion turn into hate towards our brothers and sisters who may not agree with our political stance," David said. "Our differences do not have to divide us."

The new single "We Are One" is riding the momentum of the couple's recent successes.

"Gonna Make It," the couple's break out single, has been featured on radio stations around the country, charting as high as #22 on the Gospel Internet Radio BDS chart for airplay. The duet's album "One Touch" was named the 2020 Kingdom Image Award Best Album of the year and won a 2020 Rhythm of Gospel Award for Best Packaging.

"It was such a huge honor and privilege to get the call four years ago to produce a few tracks for David and Tiffany's acclaimed project, One Touch. Having worked with many versatile artists, I found working with them allowed me to take music production further without boundaries," said Chris Adams, CEO of VonJoie Music. "Their chemistry, bond, and anointing made the records shine."

David and Tiffany's vocals are featured on records with Kim Cash Tate, Bryon Walker, Sheri Jones Moffett, Will Harris Fellowship Chorale, JaShawna Bellamy, and many more projects. James Patrick Stuart, Emmy Award Nominee, featured the couple's "soultry vocals" on his record "Can You Feel Me," which he performed on ABC's General Hospital.

David and Tiffany Spencer, high school sweethearts, met during choir rehearsal at Lumberton Senior High. They are now happily married with three children, Daveah, David Jr., and Amiyah. Tiffany is a music educator at Spring Hill Middle School in Scotland County. David serves as the Minister of Music at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, in Bennettsville, SC.
